As we celebrate International Permaculture Day, we are taking a look back at a conversation with Hannah Eckberg at the Ecosystem Restoration Camp in 2019. She shares information about the devastating fires that ripped through homes and communities in California due to a lack of natural ecosystems. Nature provides windbreaks with trees, damp ground with deep roots plants and trees, and other barriers that could have prevented much of the devastation.
Hannah has studied permaculture and other regenerative practices for much of her life. Her passion to inspire others to do all they can on behalf of the planet has led to a career in environmental journalism and philanthropy.
She is the co-founder of Permaculture Magazine, North America and the Abundant Earth Foundation.
